2020/2021 Basketball Update
We would like to thank all those that played, coached and helped with East Windsor Youth Basketball this past season. Under the current conditions we face with COVID, our schools have been cautious and as a result, we are that much safer due to their efforts.
As you know, our basketball program relies on the school facilities forus to provide basketball to our youth. At this time, we do not foresee starting the program any earlier thanafter the Christmas holidays. Decisions will be based on DPH and CIAC guidelines and some of that guidance would include the issue of spectators indoors. We have maintained a continuous line of communication with the school administrators and our Parks and Rec director and will continue this practice as the school year progresses.
Updates will be provided once our school district makes decisions about winter athletics and spectators or makes any changes about having visitors in the schools. Information will also be posted on the East Windsor Parks and Rec website and Facebook page. Again, thank you for being part of East Windsor Youth Basketball

URGENT message about the future of E.W. Little League
2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and especially so for youth sports. As you probably know, East Windsor Little League (EWLL) was forced to cancel their 2020 Spring Little League season and only fielded a Major’s team (11 and 12 year old players) during a shortened summer season. As we head into the 2021 season, the EWLL board has only a few members that will be returning. When you combine a steady decline in player participation, the fact that most East Windsor players missed a year due to Covid, and a board that needs a influx of new members, the ability for East Windsor to continue to have its own Little League is in doubt.
Due to these facts, the current East Windsor Little League board has initiated merger discussions with two other towns, Windsor Locks and Windsor. Before any final decisions are reached, we would like to reach out to East Windsor parents and non-parent residents to see if there is interest in joining the EWLL board to either save EWLL as an independent league or to assure a smooth and equitable merger with another town. EWLL has been around for over 60 years and it is disappointing that it may be unable to survive on its own.
EWLL has always been run by a small but dedicated group of volunteers that make up our board. We have had turnover in the in the past but have managed to find others willing to step in and fill the needed positions. In 2018, the board was in a similar situation, where we were down to very few members. A similar plea to parents was successful and we had an influx of great new board members. Unfortunately, most of those volunteer’s kids have aged out and those board members are moving on. We do have board members that are willing to stay on in their current positions and others with many years of experience on the board that can help guide new board members and provide historical perspective.
If you would like your son or daughter to continue to have the chance to play baseball or softball in East Windsor, I urge volunteer to join the EWLL board. Descriptions of the various board positions are at the link in red below. If you are interested in filling a position please e-mail Zachary Allyn at
by November 8th.
