Majors Baseball players should register with Ellington Little League as we are teaming with them this year.https://tshq.bluesombrero.com/Default.aspx?tabid=2736464
KEY DATES AND NOTES:
COACHES NEEDED: You can’t have a league without coaches and volunteers. Coaches are always tough to find, especially at the Instructional level. When registering your child, please also indicate if you are willing to be a head coach or assistant coach! Parents of players that are not quite 5 years old, but are willing to coach please contact our Instructional Director at sportsbrian@yahoo.com.
PLAYERS NEEDED: Due to the Covid Pandemic, last year’s spring season was cancelled. We did manage to field a single Majors teams so that our 12 Year Old players could get the chance to play their last season of Little League. Participation in East Windsor Little League has been declining and we have struggled to get players at all levels and especially players ages 9-12 years of age. We need and are hoping everyone that played in the past returns and to get a friend or two that have not played previously to join them. If we do not get enough players to form an East Windsor team at a particular age / league level, players will be given the option to play with another town. To determine if we have enough players to form East Windsor teams, it is urgent that players register as soon as possible!
See the attached file for the various league levels and descriptions.
KEY DATES:
1/4/2021: Registration Opens
2/21/2021: Date to Determine if East Windsor has enough players to form their own teams at different levels

3/8/2021: Registration Closes for Ages 7 and up.

Little League Parents,
Do you, or someone you know, want to sign-up a child to play Little League this season but are unsure how to afford registration fees? Thanks to our partners at T-Mobile, the T-Mobile Little League Call Up Grant Program is back this year to help cover registration fees for Little League families in need.
We recognize that many families are facing personal and financial challenges, which has made it difficult for their children to make their way on to a Little League field. Little League and T-Mobile share the belief that every child should have the chance to experience Little League, regardless of their situation.
Families in need across the country who can present eligibility in a Free/Reduced Lunch program, SNAP, WIC, Foster Child Paperwork, or enrollment in Medicaid or State Health Plans may be able to receive a T-Mobile Little League Call Up Grant, so long as funding is available.
The program offers a simple-to-use application to get and keep children on the field. Prior to applying, families should identify their local league by visiting PlayLittleLeague.org, then reach out to their league for more information about registration dates and fees.
Apply Now
We encourage you to visit LittleLeague.org/CallUpGrant to learn more about the program including FAQs and downloadable resources to help share this opportunity with friends and neighbors in your community to encourage new families to join your league.
It is our hope that the T-Mobile Little League Call Up Grant Program will provide much-needed support to the families in your community.

Little League International

EWLL would also ask that families in need contact Jeff Zyra if registration assistance is needed. The EWLL understands the financial constraints many families are working under due to the COVID pandemic, and we want to make sure any player that wants to play baseball or softball has that opportunity in 2021.

URGENT - Volunteers Needed for E.W. Little League
2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and especially so for youth sports. As you probably know, East Windsor Little League (EWLL) was forced to cancel their 2020 Spring Little League season and only fielded a Major’s team (11 and 12 year old players) during a shortened summer season. As we head into the 2021 season, the EWLL board has only a few members that will be returning. When you combine a steady decline in player participation, the fact that most East Windsor players missed a year due to Covid, and a board that needs a influx of new members, the ability for East Windsor to continue to have its own Little League is in doubt.
Due to these facts, the current East Windsor Little League board has initiated merger discussions with two other towns, Windsor Locks and Windsor. Before any final decisions are reached, we would like to reach out to East Windsor parents and non-parent residents to see if there is interest in joining the EWLL board to either save EWLL as an independent league or to assure a smooth and equitable merger with another town. EWLL has been around for over 60 years and it is disappointing that it may be unable to survive on its own.
EWLL has always been run by a small but dedicated group of volunteers that make up our board. We have had turnover in the in the past but have managed to find others willing to step in and fill the needed positions. In 2018, the board was in a similar situation, where we were down to very few members. A similar plea to parents was successful and we had an influx of great new board members. Unfortunately, most of those volunteer’s kids have aged out and those board members are moving on. We do have board members that are willing to stay on in their current positions and others with many years of experience on the board that can help guide new board members and provide historical perspective.
If you would like your son or daughter to continue to have the chance to play baseball or softball in East Windsor, I urge volunteer to join the EWLL board. Descriptions of the various board positions are at the link in red below. If you are interested in filling a position please e-mail Jeff Zyra at dr5who@cox.net
